Herschel "Dr Disrespect" Beahm, one of the outspoken streamers of Call of Duty, Battlefield and other popular shooters, has slammed the Ricochet anti-cheat system in Warzone for letting offenders slip through the net.
Sadly, cheaters are almost synonymous with online games these days. Integrating new software and new intensive measures to prevent unsporting players from popping up again are two methods that Activision is using to curb the trend in Warzone and Vanguard, and the Ricochet anti-cheat system was touted as an innovative step towards a happier community for these games. In its own words, it's "a multi-faceted approach to combat cheating, featuring new server-side tools which monitor analytics to identify cheating, enhanced investigation processes to stamp out cheaters, updates to strengthen account security, and more."

And then the kernel driver code was leaked onto the Internet. While Activision asserted that the final version of Ricochet wouldn't be reliant on this code, it appears to be working wonderfully for cheaters. Beahm has had enough of these ne'er-do-wells, evidenced in a recent livestream from the streamer, where he spotted that the other player eliminated his character with ease. “Guy’s hacking, right? Hundred percent?” said the streamer when he questioned the real skill of the competitor. “So they did lie to us about Ricochet. That’s false advertising, huh?”
Regardless of your opinion on the divisive content creator, he's got an enormous following and his feelings towards the game is going to be taken into account by Activision. At the moment, the publisher hasn't responded to the statements of Beahm nor other players who have expressed their frustration about the frequency of hackers in the game.
If you recall, the star had been banned by Twitch in 2020 though the whys and wherefores of the situation were shrouded in secrecy, yet it's possible that the lid will be lifted on what happened between the two parties. Recently, Beahm revealed that he has levied a lawsuit against the streaming service about the infamous dispute. "I can't talk about it, but a lot of people ask me, 'do you know the reason?' Yeah, I do know the reason why now," he said. "I've known for months now the reason why and I'll just say this right now champs, 'there's a reason why we're suing the f**k out of them.' I don't know how else to put it. The amount of damages and you just don't - nah, no, no."
