Assassin’s Creed fans can dive into a full, free remake right now

With Ubisoft hard at work on some upcoming instalments in the long-running Assassin’s Creed series, fans believe some of its oldest entries deserve some love too. Luckily for them, some talented creators have them covered with an update for some of the most-loved instalments.

It is hard to believe that the first entry in the Assassin’s Creed franchise was released way back in 2007. Since then, the series has gone on to receive thirteen more major entries, including spin offs and DLCs but with the majority of them now outdated by today’s graphical standards, they could do with a refresh.

Check out the Assassin's Creed Unity trailer below!

However, with Ubisoft currently working on Assassin’s Creed Red and Assassin’s Creed Hexe amongst other titles, it is safe to assume that remakes of the originals are not on the cards for now. Regardless, the modding community has players covered with one creator over on Nexus Mods recently releasing ‘ACUFixes’ for 2014’s Assassin’s Creed Unity.

Set in France during the French Revolution, Assassin’s Creed Unity sees players take on the role of assassin Arno Dorian as he attempts to expose the true powers behind the Revolution. Although not an old title by any means, recent improvements in engines means it could still do with a retouch and ACUFixes has us covered.

By downloading the mod for free and adding it to your game, you will see improvements in some quality-of-life features such as the ability to enter windows using R, more permissive Quickdrop and Quickshot, removable hood, select bombs with the mouse wheel, catch ledges more reliably, auto-walk and more.

It includes over 12 fixes plus the ability to add some cheats which can alter weather conditions and create an unbreakable disguise.

ACUFixes is just one of many mods available to update your favourite Assassin’s Creed entries to bring them up to date with other 2024 titles.
