Red Dead Redemption 2 Player Horrified By Grim Open-World Mystery

Another day, another Red Dead mystery to discover

One of the best and most enthralling things about Red Dead Redemption 2 is just how packed with detail the game world is. Whether it's small interactions between NPCs or a near-impossible to see secret in the middle of one of the game's forests, you can't really turn around without bumping into something new.

Not all of those details are fun little tidbits though, and some are considerably more creepy or nefarious than we'd care to mention. The Strange Man's evolving cabin is probably the most notorious example of this, alongside the almost never seen Ghost Train, but there's another secret Easter egg that might be grimmer than all of those.

Over on Reddit, one player shared their graphic discovery of a pit filled with bodies in the Tall Trees area of the map. This horrendous discovery is a known secret, with the bodies in the pit actually the remains of the Blackwater Athletics Team.

It's actually possible to learn that the team is missing by reading certain issues of the Blackwater Ledger, New Hanover Gazette or the Saint Denis Times.

"Members of the Blackwater Athletic Club are still missing and their friends and family are excited by the gravest fears. They were last seen leaving the north edge of town for a group athletics run and, although the most thorough search has been made for them, they cannot be found. Certain facts around their disappearance have given cause for suspicion," one reads.

There are two theories as to what happened to the beleaguered team. The first is that they fell victim to The Skinners, the antagonistic faction of brothers who feature in the second game. The other is that they may have been killed by the serial killer Edmund Lowry Jr. and that's a fate we wouldn't wish on anyone.
