PlayStation 5 rolling out new update with a feature we've been dying for

Playing with friends just got easier

Whether it’s Nintendo, Microsoft or Sony, tech giants will always look at new ways to improve video game consoles, and an upcoming update for PlayStation 5 is bringing a handy new feature we’ve been calling for.

Since its launch in 2020, Sony has been adding a plethora of new features and quality-of-life improvements to ensure that its customers are getting the best experience possible with the PlayStation 5. Though Sony seems to be in no rush to bring back dynamic themes anytime soon, what gives?

The online multiplayer scene is as popular today as it ever was whether you’re playing Fortnite, EA Sports FC 24, Call of Duty: Warzone, and more. When it comes to getting friends together, the process is already easy.

At this time, friends can easily send invites to each other through the PlayStation 5 or via the PlayStation mobile app bringing gamers together in an instant. However, that process is about to get even easier than before.

As detailed on the PlayStation Blog, PlayStation 5 gamers will soon be able to generate a sharable link to distribute via a private text message or through any social media platform. The shareable link can be accessed in the same menu where you send out traditional game invites.

The shareable link can also be delivered in the form of a QR code. What's more, a unique widget for PlayStation 5 invites will also soon be available for Discord with the widget dynamically refreshing “to show the multiplayer session status, so you’ll know if the session is still active before you join.”

It’s these simple yet effective quality-of-life improvements which just make gaming with friends all the more enjoyable. No release date has been announced for the multiplayer update but Sony has promised that it will arrive in the coming months.
